2010 Production Manager of the Year Nominations

Danny Argote – Istueta Roofing
Danny continues to do an outstanding job as production manager.  His energy, tenacity and commitment to our company and our customers have proven to be a powerful force to Istueta Roofing.   He is reliable, organized, caring, detailed and most of all, dedicated to a job that he consistently takes to heart.

Danny does everything right from selling Additional Work Orders to collecting money and beyond.  He has kept the crews busy and motivated during slow times by using the extra time for training on safety issues.

He is excellent at following and implementing the CCN guidelines and as a result Danny has been an Additional Work Order Contest Winner Category 6- $100,000-$125,000 throughout the entire year.

Danny is a winner and he makes Istueta Roofing a winner.  He is a tremendous asset to our company and a joy to work with.

Blaine Bruce – Crown Roofing and Drainage
He is a hard worker able to multi-task without losing track of anything. Most of all he has an elephant’s memory and can remember details for jobs from years ago.

Eric Chadbourne – Lakeside Exteriors, Inc.
In March of 2006, Lakeside Exteriors, Inc. was lucky enough to have Eric Chadbourne join its staff as Production Manager.  In the past 4 years, the Production Department has transformed into a very organized, efficient department.  Eric does a great job of juggling quite a few responsibilities, including working with homeowners at the both the production consultations and throughout the projects; writing up change orders; managing the crews efficiently and safely, just to name a few.  Eric starts his day sometimes at 6am and does not finish up until 8pm or later many nights.  He is known to bring his paperwork home to continue working.  Eric is extremely dedicated to the success of Lakeside Exteriors.  Eric has the respect of everyone in the company due to his work ethic and persistence to success.

Ross Fisher, Rain Gutter Specialties
Keeps us moving forward

Tony Flores – Nortons Quality Exteriors by Tim Brown Jr.
He is a great production manager. He does that and much more. Nortons has right sized this year and Tony has been a big part of that. He has had to take on many roles and has done it with a smile and  has done anything he is asked. Not only does he do it but he does is great and never complains. He schedules the jobs well and there are never problems. Anytime we do a job for Nortons we know that it is ready when he schedules it without fail. We never worry about a Nortons job and know that Tony is on it. He deserves this award as well as many more. He is what you always ask for in a production manager.

Quentin Guthrie – Integrity Roofing by Audrey Dunn
I could not sell the way I do without Quentin. I have such piece of mind that as soon as I pass a sale on to production, he is the next one in. He is friendly, caring and meticulous. There is no-one better than Q!

Quentin Guthrie    by Chris Dunn
Quentin is the glue that holds our Production team together. He treats people as people and has built quality relationships with each of the Production staff and Window & Door clients. His caring attitude has smoothed over thousands of bumps in the road.

Quentin successfully managed our transition to Renewal by Andersen and accomplished a Gross Contribution 2% higher than our company goal for Windows and Doors. He takes challenges seriously and thinks hard about the best solution to a problem.

One of most valuable things about Quentin is his understanding of what “”The Right Job At The Right Price”" means. He is constantly explaining it to his staff and it shows in their work. The moral of our Production team is high and the mindset of excellence is evident. Quentin is directly responsible for these traits in our production team.

Quentin is a cornerstone to our company. I don’t know how we would have made it through this year without him!

Catherine Honigsberg – Maggio Roofing Nomination by Sylvia Ligorria
I am nominating Catherine because with all the work our company has had this year, plus the new systems that were implemented, she has been able to handle the scheduling, the orders, the deliveries, the phones plus her production crews.  Sometimes her department looks like a big puzzle which moves and changes on a daily basis and she has managed to keep it straight.

Catherine Honisberg Nomination by Mike Brady
Catherine has done an amazing job this year! This year the DC area was hit with a blizzard and the work load exploded. Then add in the rise in sales of solar which increased new roof work. Catherine then had to deal with the insurance claims and juggle jobs and reschedule on a daily basis at times. Catherine has even with all of the increase in production, maintained an exceptional level of quality and service with the same crews!!! Catherine handles all of the scheduling, ordering, crews, maintenance, permitting, electricians and overall oversight of the jobs.

Catherine’s performance can only be attributed to her dedication to our company and to her professionalism as a production manager!!!

Catherine Honigsberg  Nomination by Steve Piccirelli
Catherine has managed the largest volume of work we ever had and has taken on many tasks and has been indispensable  with our growth in the solar industry.

Catherine Honigsberg  Nomination by Suzanne Carney
I cannot imagine anyone other than Catherine Honigsberg to be more deserving of the Production Manager of the Year award.  Catherine, a steady and reliable force at Maggio, has been able to make some drastic adjustments in our Production department this year.  In the latter half of 2009, we began to sell solar integrated roof systems.  In addition to the tedious paperwork that must be completed for these projects, Catherine also had to manage several production crews and ensure that they were trained for this new type of installation that we were offering to our customers.  While focusing heavily on this new portion of the business, Catherine also continued to manage our Maintenance Program and (as of the time of this nomination) has managed to keep our labor and materials costs right below budget!  Catherine is most deserving of this award for her dedication, reliability, and motivation for Maggio.

Catherine Honigsberg – Nomination by Scott Siegal
Catherine has done an exceptional job in this position. Having won this award a couple of times in the past, she has only improved and raised the bar. Under Catherine’s guidance, our field staff, of mostly latino descent (who don’t speak English well), have managed to learn how to run projects and sell almost 10% of our yearly volume. This is a direct result of Catherine’s involvement and training. She has even spent her nights learning Spanish so that she can communicate better with her staff.

Looking solely at the numbers, Catherine’s production team has installed 50% more work this year (than last) with the same number of workers! All the while keeping our total direct costs below 40%, not a very easy feat. In addition, we have taken on a complete new line of business…..solar. This has forced her to learn how to manage another line of work in a very short period of time.

Her dedication, she arrives each day before 6:30am, to our company is more than I could ever hope for. For these reasons, and many more, Catherine deserves to be Production Manager of the Year.

Jon Rios – Rogers Roofing
Jon’s day begins with first checking the messages and issues from the previous work day. Now this might not sound like a lot but in the early morning to hear someone on the phone who has an issue is not my idea of starting your day right. Once that is resolved, Jon is in charge of all distribution of the day’s work load to various crews going to the field. He makes sure that the right material goes to the right project but also makes sure that the right crew has the right material. He handles morning calls till our office personal report to work and he also makes sure that transportation to the various projects is in order. Now remember it’s not 7.30 AM yet. His day then is checking the numbers from previous jobs, picking up permits, planning our flat roofing projects, delivering additional material to a job sight, answering questions on the phone  and doing it all in a professional manner. He is a tireless and valuable part of our operation.  He is dedicated to his work and to our employees.

Al Salazar – Clark Adams Co.
Al Salazar has worked for Clark Adams Co. for several years and has steadily improved himself from entry level tasks to the level of production manager. Al has tremendous people skills and demonstrates that by his ability to communicate so well with customers. Many disputes are resolved by Al, long before they reach the owner, and his ability to deal with potential problems before they become big issues makes him a valuable resource at Clark Adams Co.

Al schedules all jobs, and works with each installation team (5 teams) in a very supportive manner.  We continually receive letters from customers praising our installers, and often Al’s name is mentioned. Al has saved the company lots of money by reviewing vendor orders for accuracy and is very instrumental in helping our bookkeeper collect final payments, too.  As we see the economy improving and our business picking up, we realize how important Al’s management skills are helping us maintaining profitability and customer satisfaction!

Mike Socci- Rogers Roofing
Over the course of the year we have changed many things at Rogers Roofing. One of the things that we were lacking was follow up with our customers from our production team. It seamed like we were so busy getting to the next job that we were forgetting about the jobs that had just been completed. Mike took on the responsibility of making sure our customers were called, that we had achieved 100% customer satisfaction and made arrangements to pick up the balance.  Customers seemed amazed at the fact that someone wanted to come to the job and go over their satisfaction. I have had many discussions with clients that have said how nice it was to have someone come over to see if they were happy and say thank you! Finally, I recently purchased a new truck for Mike. A beautiful 2011 GMC pickup. After it got lettered and he brought it back to the shop, he noticed that one of our salesmen had a very small and older vehicle. He called to tell me that it would be better if our salesmen Scott got the new truck. Not many people would pass up a new truck but Mike is a team player. He always puts the company ahead of himself and that is one of the many reasons why I believe he should be Production Manager of the Year!

Ron Strader – Energy Swing Windows
I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award than Ron Strader. Even though Ron’s responsibilities do not fit into what CCN considers to be those of a Production Manager, his contributions to the success of Energy Swing have been significant. Because Energy Swing manufactures its own unique window products, we have an additional critical function that probably no other CCN company has. That is the Manufacturing Manager who has total responsibility for our entire window manufacturing operation. In this role, Ron has played a major role in the success of our business.

When Ron stepped into this job three years ago, he took over an operation that was in disarray because of the poor performance of his predecessor. From the first day, he rolled up his sleeves attacking our production, training and material issues. He worked hand in hand with me to understand our production processes and operation. Through Ron’s efforts, production rates and quality increased significantly.

Once Ron got his feet on the ground, he constantly looked for ways to improve our manufacturing flow. He has done a great job of training the people he manages so they understand the “reason behind the work”. He’s worked hard at developing his personal interactions skills and has grown as a manager.

Ron works very hard to make sure Energy Swing does the right thing for its clients, and works hand-in-hand with his peers, to make sure that we deliver the right experience to them.  He also is willing to admit his weaknesses and is willing to work at improving them. He is not afraid to tackle new things and responsibilities. He is constantly looking for ways to contribute.  Over the past year, Ron has eagerly taken over additional duties with the idea of doing whatever it takes to learn to contribute to the success of the company. His understanding of and contributions to the business seem to grow on a daily basis.

Since coming to Energy Swing, Ron has made my life easier. He has taken responsibility to do as much as he can to minimize my involvement in the manufacturing so that I can focus my time on growing and marketing the business. I personally appreciate his efforts and the results he has produced because of his dedication to Energy Swing. I truly believe his contributions to making production happen for Energy Swing make him well deserving of this recognition.
